I started the Old World Tarot as a journey to reimagine the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck based on the history of the Mediterranean in the 1500s. From abandoned ships in the Adriatic to the caravans traversing the African deserts, each card depicts scenes typical of this intriguing time and environment with vibrant artwork that is supposed to draw you in. The deck currently consists of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, with a little white book to guide you through bits and pieces about the inspiration behind each card.
With this deck I want to take you on this exciting journey to a world that was, to show that history is anything but a linear story, and that nothing was left to fate, much like we ourselves have the power to understand and influence our own place in it.
